Health Services Encourage Partnership With The Health Consumer.   
The department of Student Health Services strives to assist each student to attain full health through holistic approach to medical care.
It aims at teaching (Preventive Care) training (Promotive care) and rendering medical services (Curative care) for the wellness of students.
General Information
The Department of Student Health Services is an accredited general practice clinic that provides Primary Health Care, Counseling, health information and specialist service from a physician.
The centre is manned by one Sessional Physician, 5 RGN/ Midwives, one Secretary and health stakeholders of Gweru community.
Terms and Conditions
All full time under graduate students are eligible for health services at the centre. It is therefore important for all students to join the Premier Medical Aid Scheme Docent Plan offered by the University. Students are required to produce their membership cards when seeking medical care at the clinic therefore it is important to come and apply for membership. Other medical Aid Schemes are not accepted at the MSU Health Center.

Hours of Work.
The centre is open from Monday to Friday during semester and on vacation.
Monday – Thursday
0800 – 1645 hrs
0800 – 1615 hrs
Lunch Time
1245 – 1400 hrs.
The students are seen on a walk-in basis and by appointment with the doctor; the doctor is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1500-1600 hrs and on emergencies only.

Health Personnel provides individual counseling sessions that address problem such as
  • Aids
  • Substance Abuse i.e. alcohol, drugs
  • Family planning
  • Sexually Transmitted Infection
  • Sexual Health
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Nutrition and diet
  • Stress Management
  • Bereavement
  • Marital Problems- Relationships.

N.B Feeling stressed there is no light at the end of the tunnel, want to vent out or talk to somebody. Talk to health personnel and the information is kept in confidential.

Health Information
Reading material is also available for distribution from the clinic. First Aid and Peer Education Programmes are run in halls of residence. Students are advised to take part in these programmes. Details can be obtained from the health centre.
Request for feedback
The department is currently working with minimum staff and will look forward to improve the services to the students, therefore any constructive suggestions or grievances about Student Health Services clinic should be written in the Exit Register available at the clinic or verbal communication can done to Director Health Services or through the Student Representative (Health).

The Department of Student Health Services encourages students to take an active role in their own health and follow up for additional care recommended. It is important to remember that you as a health care consumer have three fundamental health rights:
